Daylight Saving Time Update - North America

The United States has changed the start and end dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST) starting in 2007 to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Canada has adapted these same dates while Mexico will retain the historical dates for DST. In order for your Intellex unit to correctly display the correct local time on both the Intellex and Network Client, both the Intellex unit AND Network Client must be updated to track these new DST start and end dates. American Dynamics is providing support for the Intellex product to comply with these new DST dates through software updates, links to third party software suppliers, and technical information explaining the changes necessary to comply. For both products to be compliant with the new DST dates both the Microsoft operating system and the Intellex and Network Client software must be updated. In order to help you select the correct product updates and install them properly, a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) has been compiled. Please refer to the appropriate section below for information on updating your product:

Intellex 2.x (except Intellex 2.6) - Intellex units with software versions 2.x must first be upgraded to version 2.5.9. Download the Intellex v2.5.9 Upgrade and install as outlined in the instructions. Then both the Microsoft Windows 98 operating system and the Intellex software must be updated in separate steps: Download the Intellex_W98_TimeZones_Update and the Intellex_25_DST_Update following the Download and Installation Instructions below.

Intellex 3.0 - Intellex units with software version 3.0 must first be upgraded to version 3.1.35 and then updated to version 3.2 SP1. Download the Intellex v3.1.35 Four Language Release and install as outlined in the instructions. Be sure to select the UPGRADE version and not the update. Then install the Intellex 3.2/2.6 Service Pack 1 Upgrade. Then both the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system and the Intellex software must be updated in separate steps: Download the Intellex_W2KWXP_TimeZones_Update following the Download and Installation instructions below. Then download and install the Intellex_DVMS_32_DST_Update.msi according to the instructions below.

Intellex 2.6, 3.1, 3.2 - Intellex units with software versions 2.6, 3.1 or 3.2 must first be updated to version 3.2 SP1. Download the Intellex 3.2/2.6 Service Pack 1 Upgrade and install as outlined in the instructions. Then both the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system and the Intellex software must be updated in separate steps: Download the Intellex_W2KWXP_TimeZones_Update following the Download and Installation instructions below. Use the links to select the correct Intellex software for your model of Intellex and follow the Download and Installation Instructions below.

Intellex 4.x - Intellex units with software version 4.x use the Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system. Both the Microsoft Windows XP operating system and the Intellex software must be updated in separate steps: Download the Intellex_W2KWXP_TimeZones_Update update following the Download and Installation instructions below. Then the appropriate Intellex software must be downloaded and installed onto the Intellex unit. Use the links below to select the correct Intellex software for your model of Intellex and follow the Download and Installation Instructions below.

Network Client - The Network Client software must be upgraded to version 4.04 with the DST update in order to be compatible with the new DST versions of Intellex. Download the Network Client v4.04.65 and install on your Network Client workstation. Before downloading this software, please visit the Network Client 4.04 WebPage to ensure that your Network Client PC has the correct system requirements. Network Client also depends on the operating system of the computer it is installed on for correct time information. Note on installing Network Client version 4.04.65: If you already have a previous version of Network Client 4.04 installed you will have to uninstall it before you can install the DST version 4.04.65. Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and select Network Client to remove the program. Make sure you have Network Client, the Event Notification, and any web pages closed before you uninstall. You can then install the Network Client version 4.04.65 according to the instructions below.

Intellex units located in Mexico - The Daylight Saving Time start and end dates have not changed for you. It is not necessary to install any updates at this time unless the Intellex units are accessed from Network Client workstations located in the United States or Canada. The installed Intellex units and Network Client installations will have to be updated when new factory systems are added to an existing installation.

Download and Installation Instructions - Use these instructions to download and install the updates on to your Intellex unit.

Download Instructions:

  1. On a PC equipped with a removable media, download and save the software below to your local hard drive.
  2. Copy the file to a CD, USB flash drive, or floppy disk for installation onto the Intellex.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Exit the Intellex application by clicking on Utility, Exit. Then type in the Exit PIN code.
  2. Insert the media with the software update into the Intellex unit.
  3. Double click on the My Computer icon.
  4. Double click on the media device with the Intellex software update.
  5. Double click on the update file.
  6. Follow the instructions as the installation program installs the update.
  7. IMPORTANT: If you are installing the MS Windows operating system update you must go to the time zone selection screen, select a different time zone, click Apply, then re-select your correct time zone and click Apply. Double-click the clock in the lower right of the Windows desktop and select the Time Zone tab to access the time zone selection screen.
  8. When the installation is complete, the installation program will automatically shut down or reboot the Intellex.
  9. Restart the Intellex.
