Digital Demo Network
Since its' introduction, more and more people in the security and surveillance industry are using Network Client™ Remote Management Software to remotely manage Intellex® Digital Video Management Systems. American Dynamics is pleased to announce a new tool that provides you with an easy and convenient way to demo both Intellex and Network Client.
By connecting to the newly created Digital Demo Network (DDN), you can actively demonstrate many of the features of both Intellex and Network Client without installing an Intellex unit at the customer's site. You will need a PC with Network Client installed and access to the Digital Demo Network via modem or the Internet.
Some examples of what you can do with the Digital Demo Network:
- Remote viewing of live video
- Remote retrieval of recorded video
- Remote IntelleCord® set-up
- Remote search
- Remote Smart Search
- Remote alarm generation
- Remote alarm list retrieval
- Remote time sync
- Remote selective export to AVI
- Remote configuration and set-up of Intellex
- Remote schedule set-up and recording
- Remote alarm filter set-up
- Remote audio review with corresponding video
- Remote text review with corresponding video
- Remote dome control
- And much more
What is the Digital Demo Network?
The Digital Demo Network is a network of dedicated Intellex units set up in the development centers at Pearl River, NY and San Diego, CA, that feature both fixed cameras and domes with general interior and exterior views of American Dynamics offices.
How Do I Connect?
There are several ways of connecting to the Digital Demo Network using Network Client v3.1. It's as simple as connecting to the World Wide Web (www) using an Internet Service Provider (ISP) such as AOL, CompuServe, NetZero, Juno, and MSN. Once connected to the web, you are able to use web browsers like Internet Explorer or Netscape to find information of interest. Connection can be done using Cable Modem, DSL, Dial-up etc.
The two most common connections, Internet or dial-up modem, are described below.
Internet Connection
To access the Digital Demo Network over the Internet, use the following steps:
- Connect your PC to the www.
- When connected, minimize the application to the task bar.
- Double click the Network Client v3.1 icon to run the program.
- At the Network Client main page, use your mouse to select the "Settings" pull-down menu and select the "Instruments" line item. A splash screen of the 'Remote Instrument Setup' appears.
- Select the "Add" icon, to get the 'Add Remote Instrument' splash screen.
- Individually enter each of the Internet Protocol (IP) address listed below. Leave the Port and Instrument Type at their default settings.
- Close the dialog box to return to the Network Client main page.

You can individually select each IP address listed on the left side of the desktop, under the "Devices" icon. Or you can go to the top "Actions" pull-down menu and select "Refresh Instruments." You will notice that the icons under the Devices icon turn to Intellex icons. Using your mouse, highlight the Intellex icon. The Icon toolbar at the top of the screen illuminates signifying connection to the Intellex icon. Now select "Live Display" and a hex (16) grid comes up. Using your left mouse button, drag and drop one of the available devices to the grid desktop. You will now be able to view Live video from the selected site.
If text comes over with no video, DirectDraw will need to be disabled. In the "Setup" pull-down menu, the "Display Configuration" dialog box needs to be unchecked for the "Enable DirectDraw" option. Again, select an Intellex under the Devices icon, retry dragging the Intellex icon over to the desktop. Now you will see Live Video.
To enter into the Setup menu, enter in the default PIN code 1234 which accesses the Intellex Setup features.
Dial-up Connection
Access is very similar to the above Internet steps. First time modem connection will need to follow specific steps in order to connect based on the Operating System (WIN98, NT4.0 & WIN2000) that Network Client is installed on. Please refer to the document included with this bulletin "Instructions for Connecting via Modem."
Prior to dialing into the Digital Demo Network using your analog modem, follow the steps in the previous section for Internet connection and enter the IP addresses into Network Client that you will want to connect to. Enter in your area code and dialing parameters. Also enter the Intellex name (example: SD_DDN1 or NY_DDN1) for the Intellex you wish to dial-up. There is no need to enter a username or password to connect.
Once connected, follow the steps in the previous section for Internet connection to view Live video. To enter into the Setup menu, enter in the default PIN code 1234 which accesses the Intellex Setup features.
